The Lemmons Family

I had a sort of unusual Photo Shoot this month. Unusual because it included a vacation!
My entire family hopped in the car and headed to North Carolina to spend a week with our friends, the Lemmons. We vacationed, relaxed, played at the beach and I took family photos for them.

Maternity Leave

I have a lot of photo shoots to catch up with. Holiday card season is still in full swing and that means a lot of families taking advantage of the Holiday Card special. I have been reminded of how much I adore this job as I snap photos of families interacting with each other and capture bonds between siblings, parents, children, and sometimes pets, on film.

Here are some shots of a family with five adorable children. This is when the photo editing extras really pay of because getting seven smiling faces in one photo takes more than a great photographer...it takes a miracle!

Last week was my first shoot since returning from maternity leave. Autumn is in full swing here in Lancaster and that makes for gorgeous natural backdrops. No need to go to a location, most people have perfect scenes in their own backyard, like this wonderful family.

This family was really fun to shoot. Even though they are slightly conservative, they were open to a mixture of fun and laughter in their photos.

Add two big dogs and one crazy photographer ("For this shot, you have to ALL sit on the two chairs with no feet touching the ground!") you have a recipe for a great photo shoot!

I awoke earlier than usual this morning and tip toed out of the house to head to Lancaster and do a photo shoot with this adorable family. Boy, was I impressed! While my family was still in bed, this family was up, dressed and gorgeous!

This is what I love about my job! Look at these beautiful faces, all shining, and all a part of a happy family. And they gave me the honor of capturing this moment in time for them.

I had the far too easy job of photographing this gorgeous family yesterday. They were a dream to work with and look at how beautiful those kids are!

And, for the first time in my photo business, we threw a dog into the mix. MUCH harder than photographing babies and toddlers I have to say, but Bella the Dog did a great job and we got the shot.

Two Little Tooshies

This week is a new challenge on the I ♥ Faces Photo Challenge site and it has to do with backsides...an angle not usually photographed often.

However, one of my recent favorite photos contains two little tooshies at a birthday party. I love to capture little unexpected moments from birthday parties, like this shot of the birthday girl and a guest sitting on their designated circles to hear a classic children's book being read aloud.

elopement photos

I took Elopement photos of the cutest couple this past weekend. Taking Elopement photos is new to me, but they are pretty much like Engagement Photos, but with more kissing! Yes, I said more kissing. It is always nice to photograph a couple who is so obviously smitten with each other. That emotion leaps into the lens and produces genuinely beautiful photos.

This adorable couple were so easy to shoot. Were very photogenic and very playful. The jumping photo is my favorite and shows how FUN these two are.

Thanks T + C for a wonderful day and a reminder to smooch my hubby a bit more!!!

I had a scheduled photo shoot this morning with the Call family. It was all grey skies and sprinkling rain this morning so we decided to go indoors, but at the last minute, the heavens calmed and we headed to an amazing abandoned house for some outdoor shots. Here's the entire family in front of the pond. Only one body swap needed!

On the property were so many cool old buildings and brick walls.

Nothing like teasing a 7 year old about a possible school girlfriend to get that genuine smile. It's my ace in the hole!

And look at this beautiful little girl. I always shoot the youngest child's shots first so that we have them in the bag for when their patience meter runs out.

Then we headed to the Lancaster Train Station. Another favorite location to shoot. I love it when a family brings a change of clothes because it's like a entirely new shoot!

This was the very last shot of the day. The kids were tired and everyone was ready to go, but I adore this final shot. It's not perfect, but that is exactly its charm. It is so natural and easy. This is a family who loves each other...even when it's the end of the day.

Thanks to the Call family for being versatile, flexible and so very easy to shoot!

Autumn

Autumn is in full swing here in Lancaster County. Although there are still occasional flowers in bloom, the leaves have changed and we are enjoying the crisp air of Fall.

My second changing of the seasons since moving to the East Coast has given me more time to observe and enjoy the truly miraculous time of year this is. In my opinion, there is none better. I have a family photo shoot this Saturday and I am hoping to capture the beautiful family in the midst of Autumn's gorgeous colors.

Remember Birthday Boy Todd from my earlier post?
Well his entire family got in on the action today at a family shoot.
Jenny said she wanted funky and modern family shots. Hooray!

They choose the gorgeous Lancaster Train Station and it was a perfect location. I could have stayed and shot there for hours. It is filled with archways, old windows, weathered brick and train station relics from long ago. I want to send a personal shout out to the City of Lancaster for not updating their transit system in the past 100 years.

Here are just a few of my favorites from today.

birthdays

In September I had the honor of photographing two children's four year birthday parties. The first was Todd. He is the cutest little rough and tumble boy and he was a dream to work with. Sometimes I have to really hustle to capture a quick moving toddler, but Todd very nicely took a few breaks from constant motion so I could capture some great portrait shots.

Todd's little sister was also dressed to party.

At the next party I got to shoot a beautiful little birthday girl. This little cutie had a fabulous birthday party themed after the book The Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle.
